Gmail app doesn't sync!

If you make a new contact on your phone and save it as a ''google contact'', it should automatically be synced to you google account right?

I tried everything, and the contact is not to be found on the web when i log into my pc. Do you have to send an email through the gmail app first to get it saved, or is there something wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

1. Go into the App menu and choose "Settings".
2. Choose "Accounts and Sync".
3. Ensure that "Enable background data" and "Auto-sync" are checked.
4. Look a bit further down and you will see your Google account listed. Tap on it.
5. Insure that "Sync contacts", "Sync Gmail" and "Sync Calendar" are all ticked.

Go into your contacts and create a new Google contact. It should be automatically synced.

First of all thank you.

But when I do all of this, I still don't have the contact in the list when I check my Gmail through my laptop.
Only when I send an email through Gmail app (on my phone) I see that contact as a suggestion.

What browser do you use on your PC? I noticed that I do not see my contacts in Opera but can see them in IE and Chrome.

As a test, can you create a contact in Gmail on your computer and see if it is synced to the phone.

Also, what kind of connection are you using, there might be a congestive delay in the syncing of the contact.

I use Firefox

My android phone is connected through edge. Btw have you tried it yourself, creating a contact on the app and checking through the browser?

I don't see the point of using the Gmail app, why not use to browser?
Gmails mobile version is very handy and complete, the app is a mess imo (you cant see sent mail etc..)

I have not tried FF. Try installing Chrome and see if contacts show up there.

Of course you can see sent emails. Menu>View Labels>Sent.

There may be some crossed wires here. I meant can you log into Gmail on a computer, create a contact with a phone number in the address book, and then go to your phone after about 30-60 seconds and see the contact has appeared in your phonebook?

If the answer is yes, it may be a phonebook setting that needs changing. If the answer is no, it may point to a sync issue as well.

Do not worry about the Gmail app or the Gmail mobile website, they are irrelevant as they do not have any functionality for creating contacts.
