Gmail app not displaying pictures in some emails

Some emails I get with pictures in embedded in the body do not display in the my Gmail app. Just get the ? icon where the pic should be. Last email that it happened with had a couple of jpgs in it which displayed on gmail in Firefox (on my laptop).

Anyone else have this happen to them?

Did you scroll to the very bottom of the email and see if there were attachements there for you to preview or download? That is what mine is currently doing. They should be in the body of the email but you have to scroll down to see the pictures.

Yeah, if it is an attachment is will display a thumbnail at the bottom of the email with a Preview and Download button. I'm referring to emails with embedded pictures like how the iPhone places images in emails...

Likewise, I often see the image placeholder icon in the message too. It is disappointing. The G1/Android does much right, but viewing e-mail should be near perfect and it is currently not.

About 30% of the time I have to wait and open the e-mail later from a PC to see the images. I haven't discovered what type of images are giving Android a problem -- it does NOT seem to be Flash content in many cases.
