I noticed there's an option to "Mute" a message in the Gmail App.
What exactly does this do?
It appears to remove it from the inbox and archive the message in the "All Mail" label in Gmail.
When checking online (the non-mobile web), it states "Muted" in the "All Mail" label.
However, if additional emails arrive from the same sender, there will be still be a notification. Perhaps it's just muting the conversation (with the identical subject)?
It appears if mute a message, it'll just mute that conversation and possibly future emails within the same conversation.
Is my understanding here correct?

It appears the only way to globally block a sender is to create a label and filter in Gmail as follows:
1) Create lable "No-Notify"
2) Create a filter with emails from:
[list email addresses]
3) Skip the inbox, label as "No-Notify"
This seems to work as there are only Inbox notifications on Gmail App.
Questions
1) Is there a way to mute alerts on Android from a specific sender?
Customized Mutes?
2) If so, is it possible to still have the muted message available to read later on the non-mobile web?
Not archived and still marked as unread?
3) What I would like is a way to "Mute" a message but I don't want it to be placed into trash, archive, or necessarily remove it from the inbox. Rather, just don't make a notification sound when it comes from this particular sender.
Is this possible?
