Gmail app: wrong password

I reset my phone to factory settings and now when I'm trying to add my work gmail account, it's saying that the password is incorrect. Everything works fine when I'm on the PC or in the web browser on my phone. Any ideas on how to fix it. Google's help me section was useless to this problem.
Thanks!

Hello there bschreck85!
Welcome to AF:)
Do you have the 2-step authorization enabled for your gmail account? If so, you need to generate an application specific password from your account (on your computer) to enter as the password.

I don't know....it's my work account so it doesn't end in "gmail.com" but I didn't have to do anything before when it was synced. Before the factory reset. Do I find the 2-step authorization in the settings, on my computer?

Well, if it's not a gmail account it won't have the 2-step verification.
I'm a little confused, sorry, but if it's your work gmail account, it does not end in gmail.com? But you are using the gmail app?

correct...they "rent" space and email to have @"companyname".com, instead of @gmail.com. It's still through google and we use the google drive. When I first got it, it synced easily...entered email and password and went right through. Now it's saying the password is incorrect on my phone but I can log in fine on my computer.

Ah, I see. Kind of akin to my work email is mike@companyname.com but is synced with my personal gmail account.
I've never had to enter a password for my work email though, so I'm not sure how much of a help I can be, I'm sorry.
Hmmm, if I think of something I'll post back, but odd you can log in fine with your computer, but not on the device.

Perhaps unrelated, but can you log into your personal gmail on your phone?

Try this:

Open your web browser on your phone and go to this url: mail.google.com/a/your-domain.com (replace your-domain.com with your company'a domain name). Try to login that way. Make sure you are using your full email address (bschreck85@your-comain.com) and what you believe you password is. If that fails, they should be a forgot username/password link on the page after your login fails. Try resetting your password that way. If that fails, get with your IT guy or whoever your Google Apps administrator is (probably the IT guy). That's what they get paid for.

Good luck!
