I uninstalled gmail updates on my dads phone and tried to reinstall them. Now he is not able to use gmail?

How do i get gmail to reinstall?

Phone settings....accounts...google...sync??

It might be worth going to settings> apps > Gmail > clear data first. Then log back into Gmail.
