I have 2 Gmail accounts, both set up on my phone. Odd thing happening to only one of them for the last few days, inconsistently.

When I get a notification and open/read the new email then delete it I get a screen with a big happy sun on it and a message something like 'all done here, enjoy your day'. It doesn't take me back to my inbox like usual. If I back out of that screen it exits Gmail. That account has been slow as molasses to load too.

My other account does not do this and is quick as always.

Anyone else seeing such things?

I hate everything Google is doing lately. Why in the world is all of this swiping supposed to be better than just pressing a button? Its not!

I'll admit that I'm an eeediot for not remembering that this was the big change to Gmail but it's the strangest thing. Even though it updated a while ago it didn't kick in until just the other day and only for 1 of the 2 addresses. There is no way to get back to the inbox after I get the stupid sun (I actually don't mind that part) either. I can hit 'inbox' all day long and get nothing. Swiping does nothing. Nothing does nothing! There are still things in the inbox (read) but no way to get back to them. It's terribly slow, I mean really slow too. And my other address has not done this new trick once yet, still functions the same as always. I don't mind change (ha! that's a lie!) but I do mind when there is no rhyme or reason and it's three steps backwards to broken.

Hi, I've had the latest update for a few weeks now. My four gmail accounts are all working problem free. It's really odd that one of your accounts isn't seeing the update at all and the other is screwed up with elements of the update.

Have you tried 'uninstalling updates' and redownloading 4.8?

Not yet, but I will. I'm still just in the 'this is stupid' stage

I get the same thing, but it's when I've deleted all items in the "social"/"promotions"/"updates" inbox's, not the main "Primary" inbox (don't think I've ever deleted everything out of my Primary inbox though! ).

Once I've deleted everything, I have to manually go back to my Primary inbox.

I don't use the social/promotions inboxes, just primary. Both accounts have read mail in them, just hanging out. One account gives me the nice sun and won't let me go back to my inbox and the other never gives me the sun. It's just odd that they don't behave the same way, they are set up identically.
I will uninstall/reinstall and see if that fixes (breaks) them to match, I had tried a clear cache to no avail.
