Gmail, Gdocs, and Android

This has probably been addressed before but I was unable to find the right search term to reveal it.

I have a non Gmail address setup with google docs and can access it via gmail. ie; myemail@mydomain.com is setup with google docs and from within google docs is a link to 'gmail' which is this account. can I use it to tie to android, or is it only for an account ending in gmail.com?

Yes, you can use any Gmail account email address with Android, whether it's a normal gmail account with @gmail.com or @anything.com or an Apps for your domain account.
