When I go to gmail in Opera Mini 5, I am presented with a webpage that is "basic" (for lack of a better word).

When I go to gmail in the stock browser or Dolphin, I get an "enhanced" version of gmail. It has tabs across the top and is quicker to navigate around.

Is there a way to get this enhanced version when using Opera Mini? Hopefully I am clear enough on the differences.... Thanks.

I don't think there is any way to get an "enhanced" version on Opera Mini.

Opera was made to be a faster and more condensed browser.

Opera Mini is not a full featured web browser like the native browser or the Dolphin browser. It uses a proxy (opera's servers) as a middleman between you and the website. Opera sends a preformatted and compressed website to your phone and as such, in some cases, it can't use some of the more advanced features of JavaScript powered websites.

In some cases, opera's backend programmers can adapt some of these sites to be used on opera mini, however. Some, but not all.

Opera browser, the full version, has been shown running on android and that will be a proper competitor to the native browser and dolphin.

Thanks for all the info. I was hoping there was a user agent or something that could be changed to fake it out, but doesn't sound like it.

because the gmail mobile site is more fully featured than the gmail app.

that said, opera mini will be gimped for this. opera mobile, whenever we get that, should give you what you're looking for.

why would need to use gmail through a browser on an android phone ?

The main reason is to access a second gmail account. I know I could forward to my main account, but I want to keep them separate.
