Gmail messages being pushed on Wifi but not on GSM

I use Gmail on my Desire and messages come through OK when I am using Wifi but when on GSM I have to manually refresh to get emails. I am sure that this was not always the case so please can anyone suggest what I may have changed as I can't remember if I did. Thank you.

Oops think I must have tinkered too much. Now I'm not getting push email at all on either Wifi or GMS and have to refresh every time. Help please!!!!!

im getting the same problem, both my sky and gmail accounts used to synch happily over wifi or gms but now (in the past week or two) i have to manually refresh. the only tinkering i've done was to use tasker to only enable background synching on wifi in a bid to save going over my data plan. i've now deleted the that profile and synchs failing on both connections

It turned out with mine that the Google radio button was not on under Settings>Accounts and Sync although that was one area I am sure I had not tinkered with. I suppse that you have already checked this?

Hi just thought i'd add to this one - noticed something on another post, frequently changing between wifi and mobile data can interupt the synch between the servers and device, since i stopped being paranoid about every last byte of data usage the push has been working well
