Gmail messages not deleting all the way

Sometimes when I delete a message on my Droid from Gmail, if I look on the computer at Gmail, the title of the message is still there, but if I click on it it says that it contains deleted messages. In other words, the body of the messages is gone but not the title. What am I doing wrong?

Maybe you're deleting individual messages, as opposed to an entire conversation? Or maybe it just hasn't synced yet?

It looks like it did catch up after a while. Strange to me that it was partly synced like that. How long does it typically take to sync? I didn't look for many hours in this case.
