Help Gmail not 'Pushed/Synced' unless app is opened

Hi,

I have recently changed my phone to a Galaxy S9 and I'm having issues with the Gmail app.

Basically I'm not getting any emails until I open the app itself. It did work initially when I first got the phone but it's now stopped for some reason.

I've looked in the app setting and checked Sync is on, restarted my device.....I'm not sure what else to try and wondered of someone had any other ideas.
