Gmail password recovery is moronic

I only have a gmail address because I have to have one for my phone. I NEVER use the gmail address for anything but the phone to be able to work. Now I want to get a new Android and I have lost the password. One would think that I should be able to do a password recovery by simply going online and having the password sent to MY gmail account, then go onto my phone and read the email? Duh?

No, you have to jump through all sorts of hoops, pay them $0.30 via credit card and then wait for days and days only to get an email saying they need more information. Sheesh. I hate Google almost as much as I hate Apple.

That doesn't seem right.

But if you do get it recovered, remember to set it up so that Gmail has your email as a secondary, for password recovery purposes.

Yeah I tried that. Thanks. I guess I will just save my contacts and get a new gmail address with the new phone. Why I have to have an email address for a phone is beyond me.
