Lurker
On my gmail app its says i have an unread message when i dont. ive cleared the data, uninstalled the app then reinstalled it and it worked for about a minute then went back to showing 1 unread message. what do i do?

It's happened to me as well. What occasionally happens is if you delete a conversation (as in, with a back and forth between you and someone else), but there was another message coming in that you didn't read yet. So basically your phone no longer has the conversation thread at all, but the server's telling it there's a message.

Hop onto your browser and delete the message from there.

Same thing happens to me.. probably all it is.

If you delete messages on your phone, but not from the server and your server has a size limit so that the complete message is not downloaded to your computer when you retreive mail you will end up with phantom messages in your trash folder. There appears to be no way to delete them as when you open the trash folder it shows nothing there and your server also shows nothing. It's the way it is. Frustrating.
