Gmail Sync and Battery

Does anyone know if there is much difference in battery usage between having gmail sync on or off? I don't get much email, but syncing to gmail on iPhone killed my battery. I didn't know if this "Push" was more like Blackberry or iPhone when it came to the battery. Thanks in advance!

Not sure exactly what the sync would go under when looking at the battery usage information; however, on my phone it's usually the display and other system usage (browser) that usually shows up as having the biggest drain.

Are you familiar with how to check your battery usage?

I've checked it with it on, but don't see it on the list. I didn't know if someone maybe knew more in depth as to how it syncs up. I have tried running with it on or off but its hard to tell if there's a difference due to my usage. Not a big deal either way, just curious.
