Gmail sync questions

1) We're always told that not to close ones email account is to invite security problems; one should always log out. However, with the gmail app, there's no option to logout. one is always logged in. This is easily verified by accessing the account on separate computer and checking on what IP the account is also open at. Now the account I use for phone is one that I use for forums and junk mail. But this leads me to second question...

2) I want to add a separate gmail account to phone. One I use for friends i) is it secure, as always logged in, and ii) will a 2nd account be a confusing drain on battery. I don't use automatic syncing, I update manually with everything. Mobile internet not permanently on like some folk here.

Ta, Mike.

Why? You really should not worry about someone accessing your account through your phone, but rather someone accessing it from somewhere else.

Open or not it is the security of your password that matters more. Why not jusy sign-up for Google two step authentication?

Thanks for your thoughts, what about the second question? Will it affect the battery adversely by having two gmail accounts on the phone?
