gmail using data connection to receive mail w/out permission

well, it doesn't appear to offer any send/receive options to allow me to elect to only send/receive manually. what's the dilio? I have an eris with 2.1 btw. thanks!

It's called "Background Data". The setting is somewhere in the settings... different on each device. Check privacy settings as well as data.
