Gmote server type app

I'm looking for an app that is like Gmote but will allow me to communicate with my computer over my 3g internet line instead of wireless. Is there anything like that? will those paid apps that allow one to control their home computer via closed network do it?

what do you want to do specifically? Gmote works for me over 3G (music control, anyway). If you're trying to stream to your phone, try Subsonic or Orb. You can use FTP to transfer stuff, Remote Desktop for full control. Do you just want mouse/kb control?

PhoneMyPC should do what you to control your PC, access all your PC programs, monitor what your PC is doing, and can be used as a remote mouse. It has pretty much everything but sound.

With Subsonic, you can choose your bitrate for streaming. You can choose a lower-quality bitrate, which will reduce or eliminate skipping/buffering.
