Go Launcher, AutoKiller, SetCPU

I have had my Droid X rooted now and using Apex for about a month and have been experimenting with the different suggestions to optimize my battery life. I have reached a point that is working well but I have started noticing response seems to be getting slower, lag.

After a little thought I started to wonder if I might be having a conflict between Go Launcher, AutoKiller and SetCPU because they were basically the last 3 apps I installed trying to improve my battery life. I didn't notice anything at first but now it catches my attention quite often. I started thinking since Go Launcher and AutoKiller both have the killer functionality, maybe they don't like each other.

I have SetCPU at 1Mhz/300Khz as the main settings and 600/300 for both screen off and Battery < 30%. It seems that installing and using SetCPU did the most for my battery life improvements but I am also wondering if that could be the lag that I notice because I notice it the most when waking it up.

In general is it possible that those 3 apps could be conflicting with each other? Has anyone else noticed anything like this?

Why do you need a task killer? It's not Windows! Apps that sit in the background don't use any resources...

^^ wrong
turn on some task manager and see how much backround app use

There's a difference between "running" ("using CPUs") in the background and "cached" (just taking up space) in the background .

Both will show MEMORY being taken up in the background, but only SystemPanel and WatchDog Lite (maybe a few others) show you what's using CPUs. If an app is cached but NOT using CPUs, then they are not using up your battery.

For example, since I am unrooted, every time I boot up my phone, a LOT of software also bootup.

If I open up Watchdog Lite, I'll see that there may be 50 apps cached in the background BUT all of them will show using 0.0% CPU cycles.

My active apps will show some sort of percentage of CPU cycles being used. If I need to kill something, it's one of those "active CPU" apps. I've had to to that every now and again with TuneIn Radio and Player. But otherwise, I've uninstalled any bad apps that overuse my CPUs.

from all that I have read here you shouldn't need task killers on 2.2
I only use one if an app hangs and I need to clear it. I would uninstall the task killers
and retest. I've used Go launcher for a while now and have no issues on my desire.
good luck
cheers
