Go SMS Pro description lists as one of it's features
"- Free SMS and MMS"

How does this work? Is this done over wifi? Can you send and receive free SMS and MMS? Is this at all like textplus where you register and they assign a phone number to your account?
 
As far as I know, this is done using their proprietary servers to send SMS and MMS- like messages over your data plan, using their server instead of SMS servers. My guess is either you have to take a special number from them, or you get a id name or email to use to route the messages when someone sends them through their servers. I've not tried it out, so I can't say for any more certainty than that.
