Lurker
So I have been an iphone user for many years and have never used the Android OS. I recently upgraded from my iPhone 4 to the 5 but was disappointed before I even received my new device. I ordered the 32gb black and when I received it and opened it I found it scratched out of the box. Exchanged for a white one that is flawless. I love the fit and finish of the phone but am a bit bored with the OS. I love the GSIII from what I have read and from the small amount of time I have had with it in stores. My concern is will it be reliable for me for my business uses. I need e-mail and i need it immediately. My company uses Gmail and on my iPhone I set it up as exchange. I heard that there may be problems with this on the GSIII?

My other main concern is visual vm. I love that feature and would like to keep it. any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated

Thanks!

Visual Voicemail might be carrier specific, I can say that is available on Rogers in Canada

Visual voicemail is also on AT&T. I also came from ios since the iPhone 3G and owned every iPhone since besides the iphone 5 I have not looked back to ios since I got my S3. It's amazing in so many ways.

I've just come from iPhones, 4 years of them, and I would probably recommend sticking with iOS if you're a business user. Personal opinion, of course. I'm a student - I have no regrets moving to a GS3, but I can imagine the gimmicks and "fun" parts of Android may become an irritation if you're purely a business user.

You have to take care of Android, you don't with iOS. It's like Windows vs. OS X. Technically Windows allows for more, but it requires a lot of attention!

Just something for you to think about, coming from a previously very loyal Apple customer. Macs, iPad, iPhones, you name it.

Edit: Also, depending on how much you travel - take it from someone who is really happy with their S3 - the battery life on this phone is, for lack of a better word, awful.

Thank you, this information is very helpful!

This probably depends on model. I know the US LTE is reportedly terrible, but the 8
I9300 can be great. 6hrs screen on in a 24 hr period for example

No problem. If you enjoy using your phone and like to play/customise it - the GS3 is great - I can vouch for that. However, if your phone is purely a utility to aid with business, I'd suggest sticking with the simpler, more robust (stock apps) iOS.

I'm using a SIM-free international I9300 (Quad-core, no LTE, from UK), pretty much stock apps/widgets except Nova Launcher and the usual social network bandits. I get ~24-36 hours per charge with 6 hours+ screen time. As far as I'm concerned, that's bad battery life. My 26 month old iPhone 4 will last about 3 days with identical usage on an OS which is now 2 major versions above what it was built for. It's not a problem for me, I'm a student so don't have much structure to my day, but for someone who was out 6am-7pm with heavy business usage, it would undoubtedly cause issues.

I realise that this is a drawback to the huge screen, but the cause isn't relevant when you're talking about business users. If it's not going to be available when it's needed, that's a problem - big screen or no big screen.
