Going from iphone 4 to Android, which phone?

I want a high end android phone that i know will be updated to at least 2.3 you know? I hate getting a phone then it stops being supported.. I am looking at the N1, Desire, and captivate, any suggestions? Thanks.
 
Well, the N1 is only available on eBay at the moment till they bring it to the carriers, which carrier are you on?

Im on att and got the iphone with the contract, so i would have to sell it on ebay then, get a new phone, i like all 3 especially tje desire and captivate, my main concern is not being outdated, hate when a new phone comes out and the manufactuer stops updating the one you have...
 
You could try trading for an ATT version of the N1 with your iPhone, might get some cash + the phone.
 
What about captivate? Good? I REALLY like the design of desire, will that be supported a lot? At least by xda or something?

So why are you getting rid of the iphone if you don't mind me asking?
 
My first post. I have a JB Iphone 3G and got bored of it. I like it, but it lags so much esspecially with tvout through cydia. I wanted a phone that does tvout native without hacking. The only choices I had was the HTC Inc or the Captivate. I wanted to stick with ATT cause my contract isnt up til November and I dont want to pay the early termination fee. So I just ordered the Captivate from a certain website. Hopefully I get it by the weekend so I can post my review.
 
I have the Vibrant(tmobiles version of the Galaxy S) and it is by far the best phone that I have ever owned. Samsung did an awesome job on this phones version of Touchwiz. Touchwiz 3.0 in my opinion is very Sense and Iphone UI like with almost zero lag when doing anything, atleast my phone is. As of right now its Samsungs baby and it is getting alot of love just from TV ads and media publicity that I have seen so I don't think it will be left in the dark when it comes to updates. I don't think that Samsung wants another public debacle that the Behold II caused for them especially how much they are putting into their Galaxy S exposure. The screen is that of Iphone 4's Retina display.

With all that being said, you should look into what kind of return policy AT&T has. Try out both phones for a few days and see which one fits you better

Locked down as in you can't turn the "Load non-market applications" settings to ON. Most people will never load a non-market program and there are several ways around it so it isn't that a big a deal. Kind of a silly move on At&ts part, anyone who would be trying to side load an application is going to know how to make it happen.
 
I just switched (yesterday) from the iPhone 3G to the Captivate and I'm loving this phone. I'm still getting used to the os, but after a day I feel much more comfortable with it. I would recommend anyone considering the iPhone 4 to check out the Captivate.
 
Just so you know, if you like how fast and snappy the iphone 4 is, you'll be glad to know that Samsung is still manufacturing their processors for them
 
Nexus One will receive new releases first, for the longest amount of time. I wouldn't buy anything else at this time.
 
I'm also on AT&T and I'm grabbing the captivate when I become upgrade eligible in two weeks. I'm really excited and I've already been reading every thread in the Captivate section to anticipate and solve any issues that may come up immediately. Samsung said they're rolling out Galaxy S froyo updates in Korea in August and France come September, so I'd think it won't be too long before they roll them out here stateside too.
 
Ok so Im getting either The Captivate or Desire. Any suggestions?

Pros Captivate:
AWESOME BIG Screen
Will cost me MUCH less than a Desire with US 3G
16gb built in
Good for games
Nice Sleek Design

Cons Captivate:
Mostly plastic? Cheap?
Not really sure about touchwiz....
No Camera Flash....
Apparently ATT prohibits some apps?<<WTF!

Pros Desire:
AWESOME DESIGN! LOVE IT SO MUCH!
HTC Sense!
Camera Flash!

Cons Desire:
Outdated???
Super Amoled>>>Amoled

I really suggest that you go into a store and play around with touchwiz 3.0. Its completley different from previous tounchwiz interfaces. I hated everything that was the Behold II, Omnia, or whatever else was pre 3.0.

I am amazed by some people reporting lag in their Galaxy S devices cause I have absolutley none. I've tried using adw launcher and launcher pro U/I's and I always went back to Touchwhiz. The Super amoled screens touch sensors are embedded into the screen and not in an added layer so this could help with how well the screen responds to touch but I don't know. It might just be for clarity. I just know that I am impressed with this U/I

I would have to agree. I purchased the HTC HD2 through tmobile and did a re-up on my contract. I was so disappointed with the preformance of the phone, i sold it on ebay for $400. I cancelled my contract, paid the $200 cancellation fee and went to sprint for the evo. The hardware is what sold me. I really like the hd2's hardware and the EVO was the identical hardware WITH MORE. Glad i made the switch and would pay the $200 cancellation fee all over again to get the EVO.
