Root Going from un-rooted V8 to AK0P Milestone?

I rotted my Spectrum to BO awhile back, un-rooted using the method here Flashing LG signed Firmware - LG Spectrum - RootzWiki
and have been on a stock unrooted since. Will the AllInOnePackage work to root a V8 4.04 phone,or should I downgrade to V7 or V6 first? Thanks :)

hmmmm if you mean the all in one package from the gingerbread days then no, don't use that. Use the pwnage tool provided by death2all and playfulgod...(may they rest in peace)

If you are on v6 or lower then the all in one package will work fine. You can use recovery to flash to any rom you like but you will also have to flash the proper baseband files depending on whether you are on gingerbread or ICS

I was referring to the Death2All AllinOne,Thanks for the assistance guys, its much appreciated.Do you have any ROMS you could suggest would be best coming from an unrooted V8? I mostly use my phone for tethering and care most about extending battery life.

All the ROMs found on this forum have their pros and cons. If you are used to stock ICS, you might want to start with azoller's Icy Fusion. It's ICS based and would let you get familiar with how ROMs work on the Spectrum.

After that, I would suggest reading through the threads for AOKP, http://androidforums.com/spectrum-all-things-root/710784-rom-pac-man.html, CM 10.1, and Elemental X to see which ones sound enticing.

Also, azoller is working on Chameleon. You might want to check out that thread

All the jellybean roms will provide you with the best tethering experience because it's built into the rom and you can set a toggle for it and then it's always just one click away. As far as battery life I think all the jelly bean roms tend to be about the same. I personally think battery life is usually more down to the end user than anything in the rom itself, but of course a rom does play a part. I personally think elemental X has decent battery life and the latest version of Pacman seems to be good on the battery (Though I just started running it last night so I need more time on it before I know for sure). I'm not sure you will want to start on pacman though because it might be a bit overwhelming at first because it's loaded with features and can get a bit confusing (I still can't find the quick toggle settings O_o ) Your best bet is to start with CM10.1, then branch out to the others.

Quick toggles being the ones when you drag down on the right?

System > status bar > quick settings

Thanks again for all the help,I have one more question,I rooted and got CWM without any issue, but CWM keeps getting hung while backing up data,(20+) minutes gets about 65% of the way through..I'm just creating a backup from the menu, am I doing something wrong? Or just need to be more patient :)

it shouldn't take any more than ten minutes. Usually it's probably a little less than ten minutes for me. Are you selecting the tar format? I've made backups with both formats and they worked fine but maybe trying a different format will work. I'm not sure what could be happening because I've never heard of a backup not working but maybe you just need to keep trying. Wish I could be of more help but I just don't know.
