Going in Circles...

I just purchased a cheap Android tablet, an Eken M-001. It has android 2.0 on it. I am hoping to use it as an editor for my ebooks, and I have no intention of buying a data plan for it. I have gotten online through the wifi. Now for my probelm:

I am trying to download a simple text editor. The android market tells me that there is no device attached to my google account, but it gives no way to attach a device. android market help tells me to look into settings>accounts, but no such tab exists on my device.

Google help made me run through this long process of setting up a two step verification, but at the end of that whole process it didn't give me any option to add a device either. I've spent three days on this and I am getting very fed up with the whole process. Is there something I am missing.

then there is circle number two. I found a tutorial that showed how to download the apk file and add the app that way. So I got on the website for Ted text editor and requested the apk file be emailed to me. That got me an email with a link, back to the same website.

So I finally found a text editor called jota that did allow me to download the apk file as a zip drive. Pk manager won't even recognize it however.

Any help with any of these three problems would be much appreciated.

SlideMe worked. I would guess that you are right, it's probably not the official google Android OS, considering the pad is a cheap knock off. Also it says it's version 2.0 but SlideMe's installer says it 1.6....

Oh well, I got it to work and that's what really matters. Thanks for taking the time to help a noob.
