good AM radio .. for my dad walking around

my dad.. likes to listen to an AM radio station that plays a Vietnamese content.
He currently uses one of my old no-brand radio.. as he walks around the neighborhood.
But it does not sound very good.. or clear. I tried to listen to it.. and it sounds like crap.
The problem is a 2 part issue (I think).
1. the station puts out a week signal.
2. the radio device is not that good.

I want to get him a good portable radio .. that can help him hear and enjoy the content.
so my question.. is there a portable radio out there that has the right power and tech to help?
brand and model and hopefully where I can get it?

I want to get it for him for Xmas.
thanks

A portable radio that does AM? Vietnamese content on AM, do you mean Short Wave? Unless he's in or near Vietnam?

Sony ICF-SW7600GR
It's a good radio, I've got one, use it to listen to BBC in China.

If you want something a bit cheaper, Tecsun, they're Chinese but still pretty good.

yes.. AM band radio.. 2 stations in the area: 1600 and 860

something small and light.. so he can easily put in pocket as he walks. and use headphones.
the ones you listed are too large.

he is NOT a stable walker.. so less intrusive is better.

I think the traditional pocket sized AM transistor radio is much fewer in numbers these days. Most people just don't use them anymore. Tecsun does make a couple, I know that. Should find them on Amazon. Don't think many others do, not Sony or anyone like that.

thanks guys for your help and inputs...
... maybe my request could have been more clear.

I can find many AM/FM basic Walkman type radios... many around.
but was hopping to get someone's recommendation on any good performing devices ,,
that they have found to be good at getting reception for these odd AM stations.

a particular device that uses better tech or antenna or power or blah blah blah..
that makes it better than other generic devices.

it needs to be small.. fit in a pocket.. he will use headsets... to free his hands, because he uses a cane to walk.

Sorry dan, it's AM radio.:( There isn't much more we can come up with (I still listen to an AM talk station sometimes).

AM radio technology hasn't really changed too much in 60 years, not since the Regency TR1, the first commercially available AM transistor radio in 1954.

sure the tech has not changed..
but some make it better than others... quality.. efficient.. effective
