I've bought a LG G5 H850 without a carrier. I suppose it's the international version. Got it online and receiving it in a day or two.
That is good news, that adoptable storage can be had on any G5 variant. I'd really appreciate it if you could say something about how to get that.

Do you think tinkering with this would cause any issues when upgrading from Marshmellow to Nougat?
If you are planning on rooting/flashing roms while on MM, do not take an OTA update. Disable it somehow.
As far as the MM to Nougat while having the adoptable storage enabled, my best guess would be no, no issues.
