Google Account Singing In Problem

In an attempt to fix my problem i updated my G1 to cupcake 1.5 following
this tutorial: How To Manually Install Android 1.5 Cupcake Without Rooting Your Device | Android Central
The new version of android OS was installed, but i still have the same problem :(
When i reboot my phone, i have to go through the setup process again for signing into my Google account.
Because it's the 1st time i open my phone with the new OS, i don't have the ability to Skip this part.
Because of that, i can not browse my phone to do anything and to connect to my WiFi.
The "error" message is almost the same, but instead of the phrase "There is a problem communicating with the Google servers" i get "You don't have a network connection.".

Is there a way to temporary skip the "signing in" so that i can connect to my WiFi and complete it then??????
Please help, i really need to get my G1 back to work:):):)
