There is probably a simple answer to this but despite google searches, I haven't found it.
Whilst looking at a problem someone was having with "OK Google", I discovered that the Google app was no longer available in my app list. On the 8th December the app was updated to version 6.9.36.21.arm64 and renamed Launcher3, at least that is how it appears in the app list. However, in the app drawer I still have the Google app with the same icon as Launcher3 in the app list.
If I open the Google app from the app drawer or home screen everything seems the same as it always was but if I go into settings, tap the 'question mark' button top right then tap the 3 dot button top right a menu appears. If I tap 'Version info' it says Launcher3, if I tap 'View in Play Store' it takes me to Google. There is no Launcher3 app in Play Store.
On the face of it, the same app has two identities, one for the app drawer and one for the app list.
Simple question..... WHY?
