Google assistant doesn't remind

Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I will set a reminder with google assistant, i.e. remind me at 6 pm tonight to take meds. At 6 pm, nothing.....I expect something to pop up to remind me but I get nothing. If I ask google what my reminders are, it's there. Shouldn't something pop up to remind me without me having to ask what my reminder is?

Rather than reminder, tell it to set alarm at the time needed.

I've asked the new assistance to add an item to my calender, to which it did. I popped into the calender and saw it there, but right at that moment it disappeared!?

Not used it since.
