Google Authenticator and can't log into gmail on droid x

gmail on my droid will not sync and/or does not accept my password since I installed the google authenticator on my phone.

What do I need to do on my phone to get it working?

I don't know what the Google authenticator is, but have you tried uninstalling it?
 
You have to authorize Android to access your google account. Go to gmail, click on your email address in the top right corner, click account settings. Then click "Authorizing applications and sites." From there you'll set up a password for Android. Use that password (only need to do it once) instead of the password for your gmail and it will work.
