Google bans apps which put ads on your lock screen

I've never seen any reason any app should be allowed to show ads at any time other than when you are using the app.

Though you know I might accept it if they mandated transparency, e.g. any out of app ad having to be accompanied by a message "You are seeing this ad because you have installed the app XXX. If you are not happy with this you can always uninstall the app.". If the advertisers and app developers really believed what they say about people accepting the ads rather than paying for apps then they would have no objection to this. But in reality they only do stuff like this because they know people wouldn't tolerate it and would remove the app if they knew which one was responsible.
