hi there, I have a google account link to my hotmail email address. Will this suffice as a google account when I sign into the market place etc or do I have to have a full on gmail account? Any help would be brilliant.

Technically, you have a full Gmail account as soon as you create a Google account. You just not use it and use your Hotmail account instead and there would be no difference in the way your phone works.
