Google buying our banking information

The question is why would anyone believe any corporation's statements about the uses they put data to? And if they are dealing with MasterCard rather than your bank then they've made it harder for you to do anything (especially if they secretly have a deal with Visa as well). You could lobby for actual regulation, but they have deep pockets and a government that believes in letting companies pollute more doesn't strike me as likely to side with the public.

Personally, I'd find more beef with Mastercard at this. Sure Google is becoming big brother, but it's Mastercard who sold your data in the first place and they had the responsibility of keeping it. I mean, should you get mad at the tattletale or the one who tried to pry it out of them with sweets?
I already know that Google will try to find a way to get our data and we have to actively select which data we're willing to give up, what I didn't know is that institutions we thought we had agreements with to keep that data private (Mastercard) were going behind our backs.
Plus it feels shady that NEITHER of them announced it.
