Help Google calendar won't show new events

I've been using Google calendar on my phone for the last year or so, with no issues. Suddenly last week, it started doing this weird thing. I don't have a data plan so when I'm away from wifi I can't connect to the cloud. But suddenly now, if I enter an event in Google calendar while off wifi, it won't show up until I connect with wifi again. Help!
