A four-month-old baby was close to not getting to see her first Christmas but Google Cardboard helped her doctors to assess the issues before starting the surgery.
Doctors took the child's 2D scans and converted them into stereoscopic images, transferred them to an iPhone and then put the device in a Google Cardboard unit so a doctor could study and examine the heart 2 weeks before the patient laid down for surgery.
