I jsut noticed this morning that I was charged sales tax on an app I bought in the marketplace, I went and looked at my past purchases and I I have been charged tax on a couple, but not all... anyone know anything about this?

seems like it should be an all or none thing, and usually when I buy stuff online I don't get charged sales tax anyway (which is why I shop online in maine!)

depends where you are from and how much sales tax is there. Here in Canada we get the 5% gst, but I live in Alberta so we don't get the pst where as the other provinces will get charged gst and pst accordingly. Can anyone confirm this from another province though? Bigger companies will charge sales tax according to where you are from, smaller ones sometimes don't, but should if they are a registered company.

ok, maine has a 5% sales tax, but online entities don't have to collect it unless they have a physical business in the state.

I am only being charged sales tax on some of my purchases, not all, it appears completely random, which is why I am confused about it
