Google Chrome sign-in issues

I installed ChrUbuntu on my Chromebook, and it included Chrome browser. but when i try to sign in to sync things like my bookmarks, login info, etc, instead of just asking for my normal account info like normal, it is also asking me for a passphrase telling me i enabled encryption. but i have NEVER done any such thing. it won't let me go any farther until i give it this nonexistant passphrase. what can i do? am i just expected to use Chrome as a mere guest?

Just grasping at straws here, Nick, but did you try nothing? Press [enter] and see if it takes that?

Here's some info from Google that might help you out. It includes instructions on what to do if you've forgotten your encryption password. (Just pretend like you forgot it! And go through the steps. :D) It notes that:

"This sync passphrase is stored on your computer and isn't sent to Google."

so you might be able to poke around in your files and find the offending one.

actually it wouldn't proceed farther without that nonexistant passphrase. the 'next' button was greyed out. i tried entering my Google Account password in there and it worked. go figure.
