i keep getting this error message and its get pretty annoying so if you guys could help it would be great

chrome.exe - Corrupt File
the file or directory C:\Documents and Settings\Mike\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Local State is corrupt and unreadable. Pleaser run the Chkdsk untility

anyone know how to fix this it would be great i already tried uninstalling and installing google chrome also it is not keeping track of my history

If it is actually a corrupted file, go into "Start/Programs/accessories/System tools" and run "scan disk" It will then ask you if you want it to run the next time the computer starts. Say "OK" and reboot. It will then run check disk before Windows loads.

The above was for Windows XP, you didn't mention which OS you're running.

Running chkdsk should work, this happened to me a few months ago.

Open Command Prompt (CMD)
>XP: Start> Run> type "cmd" > hit ok
>Vista/7: Start> type "cmd" > when you see it, hit enter.

Type this into command (minus quotes): "chkdsk c: /f /r"

It will tell you that it will run on the next reboot. Now reboot and let it run.

on windows xp but under system tools i only have character map, disk cleanup, disk defragmentation, files and setting transfer widget, internet explorer scheduled tasks, system infromation and system restore

Use the method I posted above, it is the same thing just using a different route to get there ;)
