Google Contacts corruption

Google contacts keeps messing up my contacts, not all of them, just some of them. It happens time and time again, after my fixes.

Contacts does screwy things like taking the picture from one contact and putting it on another; or mashing up contacts, like taking the name from one contact and placing it with another person's contact info; or deleting contacts altogether.

Seems like something is corrupted. What should I do? I should use to think Google contacts in the cloud was dope; now I can't trust it anymore!

First thing I would do is make a backup, export the contact using Gmail to a CSV file before they get any worse, then I might try seeing if you can fix everything through Gmail without sync enabled on your phone then enable sync and see what happens.

If things keep getting messed up over and over I might consider a factory reset but be sure to make all you necessary backups/preparations first.
