Google Drive/Photos?

This may be a very stupid question that is simple to answer. If, so please let me know.

Why isn't there an option to merge my Google Drive and Google Photos into one big cloud storage? They are on the same account. Photos works with G+, and Drive works with Gmail. Wouldn't this be simple and make sense?

Your photos in G+ count towards your Google Drive storage. They are merged in that sense. However, there's a lot of reasons why they won't show up as storage used.

Videos - Any video that is 1080p and lower, 15 minutes and shorter (must meet both requirements) will NOT count against your Google Drive storage.

Photos - I forget the resolution, but I think it was 2k by 2k. Anything smaller than that doesn't count against storage, and anything larger does.
