Help Google Hangouts almost unusable after update.

So I've had my Note 5 for a few weeks and I'm very happy. That being said, my hangouts app was recently updated to version 4.0 and now the app is so laggy that I can't even type on it. The keyboard will get stuck and have to catch up, the conversations list no longer updates so I have to open a convo in order to see new messages, and I'm constantly getting "message not sent" errors. I'd think that a phone with 4gb of memory can handle one app.. and all of the rest of my apps are fine.

Just curious if anyone else is having issues, and if there have been any possible solutions. Thanks in advance for any help!

If you have the option,uninstall updates in Settings >Applications > Application Manager > Hangouts.
If that option is not present,side-load an older version (3.3 or older) from APK Mirror:

http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/hangouts/

At least you'll have a working version until Google calls the exterminators..........................
