A report claims that Google was working on a standalone VR headset which would have competed directly with the HTC VIve and the Oculus Rift. Details about the headset are not given, but the project was apparently scrapped in an effort to streamline Google's portfolio and focus its attention on the Daydream VR platform on Android.
