Help Google Maps has lost voice since ICS update

Ever since my GS3 updated to Ice Cream Sandwich my Google Maps no longer has voice during navigation. Twice now I've used my phone for navigation & I've had to hold it & keep reading it during my entire trip because there's no voice & that's not safe to be doing. First I thought it was my Ford Sync system that was causing the issue but even when I disconnect it from Sync there's still no voice coming out. I double checked the settings & I have voice guidance turned on, I've turned up all volumes that are available & still nothing. I uninstalled & re-installed the last Google Maps update & still nothing. How can I fix this problem? I've seen other people post this same issue to various Droid forums but none of them have had any responses.

Check your power saver options. With last update there are 3 of them. It's funky but i think turn by turn navigation is only audible when this particular function is set to High Accuracy. I would post a pic but not sure how. GO Settings, More, Location. Then press Mode.

I had a similar problem and this fixed it. In the power saver mode, no turn by turn. Hope this helps.

Thank you! I used to have my location set to "high accuracy" but then changed it back to just GPS because I found the "high accuracy" to drain my battery. I will try using the maps on my way home today & see if the issue is fixed. Hopefully it works for me too!!
