Google maps Screen timing out

vnsk

Newbie
I have my screen time out for 30 seconds. Every time I try the Google maps this kicks in and the screen goes off. This doesnt happen with the Waze. How can I stop the screen timing out in GMaps?

Many other navigation apps have an option in their settings to disable the timeout, but Maps doesn't (just checked, not been added). So the options are to manually increase the timeout when using Maps, or automate this with e.g. Tasker (Llama can probably do this too).

I have a Tasker profile which turns the screen timeout to many hours when Maps is running, and resets it when I leave the app.

I currently use "keepscreen" app to keep the google map on. it is free.

but I also have tasker.. so I might look into that! thanks for that!

I'm guilty of believing what I read.

On the Droid Maxx the display timeout setting minimum is 30sec and maximum is 10min. I always assumed those were the limits.

Using Tasker I just set the maximum to 23h 59m 59s and left it alone for 20 minutes. It did not timeout.

I looked at settings and it told me it was set at 30sec.

So ... as I said ... guilty.

(What I wanted was to be able to turn off the timeout when I was developing something. I now pretty much can.)

Just select longer the screen timeout timing.

for me.. that is NOT a solution.
this would mean.. the battery might be wasted.
I only want the phone to stay on.. when I am using the map/navigating.
otherwise I want it to turn off auto at 30sec.

You need to set a destination and go into navigation mode. Unfortunately, a year ago, they no longer allow you to go into navigation mode without entering a destination.
