Google Maps have just released v6.0.2 in the Market.

Coming hot on the heels of v6.0.1, this claims even more bug fixes.

Hopefully it will cure the wakelocks that some of you have been experiencing recently.

UPDATE

Google Maps 6.0.3 is now available as an update on the Market with even more bug fixes!

I've got V5.2.1 on my Galaxy S Plus; do Google Maps not auto update?

Should do. Mine came through as an automatic update via the Market. :)

It is location specific but you are UK, the same as me. Don't know if it is device or firmware specific though. I'm on a Samsung Galaxy SII with 2.3.6 firmware. I shouldn't have thought it would have made a difference.

UPDATE

Noticed that you are UK and Riyadh. Riyadh could be the problem if your phone is registered there as I believe there are certain restrictions on Maps.

My google maps always requires manual update from the market.

For those of you who don't know you can precache 10 x 10 square mile area's.
Just found this out myself an made my day! Managed to pre-cache the whole of Manchester and its surrounding areas in a few minutes.

Open Maps > Menu > Settings > Labs > Enable Precache Map Area

To use:

Downloaded v6 from your link Ironass, went to Internet downloads and tried to install, click OK to replace application, click install, get the installing green hatched line for a couple of seconds then get the message Application not installed. Any ideas please?

If your phone is running a Middle East stock firmware then this may be preventing the installation of this version of Maps. Without rooting your phone and installing a custom ROM, I do not know what to suggest. :(

Just logged into Android Market and gone to the Google Maps page. It tells me I have it installed and then says its incompatible with my phone and also 'this item cannot be installed in your device's country',(interestingly it doesn't say cannot be installed in your country's devices). Guess I'll have to wait until I get back to UK and use a UK sim card

just updated from market and am having space issues. market says it's 6something MB and my phone has it at nearly 12MB. anyone else have this issue?

is there a way to rollback to the last update or install a previous version?

thanks.

I stopped updating apps after getting a buggy version of Google Maps and then having to wait for another update that fixes those problems. Unless there are some features that I really need or bug fixes, I generally don't bother to get updates.
