So I have the Note 9 and when I'm using google maps (not in navigation mode) the screen times out and closes. It didn't do this on my S8. Any ideas other than changing the phone settings every time?
 
I did both and still the same problem. I also use Waze but prefer Google Maps, for me it seems to be more accurate with traffic and re-routing around traffic.
