Google merging YouTube Music and Play Music?

I've seen this rumor going around for the last few months and it makes me wonder what their goal is with music distribution. If Google does merge the two music brands, what will happen to music you buy from the Play Store? Will they remove music sales from the Play Store and just focus on streaming only?
 
Not sure why they would... They have Google music and the play store now... So you can buy music or subscribe to it....
