google nav not finding my house

Lurker
I"m new to android, and to GPS in general. I'm very excited about it. today I tried the nav feature on the way home from work. I entered my home address, and it found the neighborhood fine, but got the house location VERY wrong. I don't just mean it was off by a block or something, it was in a totally different part of the neighborhood, although on a street with a similar name.

anyhow, my question is whether it's possible to correct the location somehow. on google maps online I can move the start or destination point by clicking and dragging. I tried to do that and it didn't let me. I didn't see any way to move the location. since this is my home, I'd really like it to be correct.. of course I can get there without directions, but it seems silly to have a nav function that doesn't even have my house mapped correctly! any advice?

  1. Go to Google Maps on your PC and enter your address.
  2. Place you mouse over the little balloon (or lets say your driveway), right click and select "Whats Here?"
  3. In the Google Maps search bar the GPS Coordinates for what you right clicked on will appear (something like 41.947414,-87.656334 )
  4. Now Open GMail (new window)
  5. Select Contacts, find your home on the list and double click on it
  6. Add a new address and paste JUST the GPS Coordinates from above in the box (I like to put them in a Custom label (not Work or Home) than I name GPS)
  7. After your gmail syncs with your phone open Google Nav and your GPS address will be under your name in your contacts

Search for your address on Google Maps on your PC. Then pick Report A Problem from the bottom right of the screen. Accurately describe the problem in a detailed way. I find Google to be very responsive to detailed map error reports, especially those that spell out both the problem and the resolution. I usually get a response within 30 days or so.
