google nav "searching for gps" and wont go to voice turn by turn

My friends Motorola Droid will not get to voice turn by turn.

It's stuck at searching for gps, she really would like to work for her road trip

Known problem?

Just used mine for he first time a few days ago.

Does she enable GPS Satellites in Settings before she goes to Maps?

Think its a problem with the GPS signal I get this problem when I'm indoors but should work. Stupid question but has she tried it in her car/outdoors yet?

I have had this problem since I got the droid 2 months ago -- it is very frustrating. You never know when it will or will no work. It seems if I keep going back in and trying to get it to work, it may eventually. You will find many posts on this subject.
