Google Navigation Question

got Google Navigation working great but the voice, some robotic female is driving me crazy :(
Does anyone know if it can be changed as in TomTom or am I stuck with the one voice :confused:
 
I spent some time looking into this yesterday for the same reasons as you. From what I found the voice is synthesised so you can't just go in and replace files on it. I gathered that presently, it can't be done. I would absolutely love to hear that I'm mistaken though and I'd be willing to consider paying to change the voice.
 
Currently the voice can't be replaced. It uses synthesis rather than prerecorded phrases the way tomtom does, so you get street and town names spoken, which tomtom can't do. At the moment google only use one voice per language, although they may provide more in the future.
 
My Magellan speaks street names and city names albeit not always accurately. It has a much more pleasant voice and Google navigation.
 
It's a shame, but that's what I found too.

I know that other synthesis voices DO exist (the "Talk to Me" translation app has a few to choose from, both male and female), but not for Google Nav yet that I know of.
