Help google navigation turns phone off

I use the navigation feature in Google Maps a lot while I'm driving at work. Lately it has started shutting the phone down for no apparent reason, after about a minute or two. I thought this was due to low battery, but it isn't because it's doing it with a full battery. Any suggestions?? Thanks
 
Instead of chasing ghosts, why dont u just uninstall the app and reinstall it to see if the problem is fixed?
 
.... because when I go to Settings / Applications / Manage Applications / Maps, uninstall is not an option. Presumably as it's pre-installed I can't remove it???? And the phone has been rooted so that's not the answer either!!

Well if ur phone is rooted then u can uninstall it. Go to the market and download Titanium Backup, open it up, click on backup/restore, find the app, tap on it and pick uninstall. Then go back to the market and download maps and give it a go. Good luck
